NURTUREart transforms the lives of emerging artists, emerging curators, and local public school students by providing them resources, support, and platforms to nourish creativity and strengthen dynamic communities in New York City and beyond. What began in 1997 as a slide registry in a filing cabinet grew into an organziation that today supports more than 50 artists and curators, presents more than 20 public events, and reaches more than 200 public school students annually. It does this through:
Artistic Experimentation
NURTUREart provides space and financial support to artists and curators for creative risk-taking and conceptual development. It provides opportunities to public school students inside and outside the classroom for creative investigation and hands-on learning.
Creative Exchange
NURTUREart offers accessible programming for diverse audiences to engage in the imagination and inspiration through exhibitions, performances, talks, screenings, and publications.
Innovative Learning
NURTUREart promotes equitable education for students and adults by providing unique opportunities to make, discuss, and experience contemporary art in public schools, community centers, local neighborhoods, and NURTUREart’s gallery.
